"If things had gone a bit differently, there's a chance Cliff Lee would be starting tonight's game wearing a Rangers uniform.
The lefty led Texas to a World Series appearance in 2010, and Texas made a sizeable offer to try to keep him in the fold this offseason. Instead, Lee turned down one former team to rejoin another, and he said he won't be thinking about what might have been when he pitches against the Rangers tonight.
"I played with them and had a good time," Lee said. "They have a lot of talent in that clubhouse, but I've got to do whatever it takes to win for my team -- and that's the Phillies."
But while Lee doesn't think he'll have much trouble separating emotions from the game, he's not so sure the same can be said for his former teammates in the Rangers clubhouse.
"You want to try to beat everyone, especially the guy who didn't come back to your team," he said. "I'm sure that's a little bit of motivation for them.""
