DH Lance Berkman is expected to be back in the lineup Tuesday after taking four days off to treat nerve irritation in his back that required an injection to relieve the pain. Berkman has not played since Wednesday.

He took some swings in the batting cage Sunday for the first time since the injection, but the Rangers opted to refrain from using him in a pinch-hitting situation that seemed ideal for him. With the game tied at one and two outs in the seventh, the Rangers sent rookie Jurickson Profar up to hit in the pitcher’s spot. Profar popped up to shortstop Pete Kozma for what should have been the final out, but Kozma dropped it, putting runners at first and second for Ian Kinsler. He singled home the go-ahead run.
