LaDainian Tomlinson may be in end zone for career, eyes retirement

"LaDainian Tomlinson may have played his last game in the NFL.

"I am contemplating retirement," the Jets running back told "The Scott and BR Show" on XX 1090-AM radio in San Diego on Friday. "That's what I told my coaches and told my agent. That's exactly what it is. This is the first time in my playing career that I've actually honestly thought . . . this may be it for me. That's kind of where I am right now.

"We had some great times together," he added of the past two years with the Jets. "But I just think after 11 years of battling, getting close and not getting it done, it's hard for me to start over on that journey again. It's going to be hard."

Tomlinson, 32, has finished his two-year deal with the Jets. He rushed for 729 total yards this season.

After the season, he said he would talk to his family and agents to determine the best course of action.

Tomlinson said he would consider playing for a team that has "hope" to win a Super Bowl."
