Long after Saturday's practice, guard Kyle Lowry worked with the Rockets' big men, passing on the shooting drills with the guards to post up and bang inside. This was not, he said, to unleash his inner power forward or work with others' rebounding skills.

He thought the workout would be better for his conditioning in a comeback after a month out than to spend the time trying jump shots.

"I thought I'd work on my game, work on my skills — just bored," he said, not entirely seriously. "Thought I'd work on my conditioning, get more running in, get my heart rate up a bit. I'm not 100 percent at all. I feel much stronger than I did a couple weeks ago. It's going to be a process for me. I'm just trying to help the team. Whatever coach wants me to be, I'm going to do it."
