"Johnny Knox hasn't been eliminated from the starting lineup just yet.

As Bears receiver coach Darryl Drake preached throughout training camp, Knox can compete for his starting job as newcomer Roy Williams won't be handed it for the regular season just yet.

"What's happening right now has forced Johnny Knox to get better,'' Drake said Wednesday. "I'm proud of Johnny Knox. It has forced Johnny to be a better student of the game.

"What Roy has to understand is Johnny Knox will be in there if things don't get better, in a hurry.''

Drake wasn't pleased with Williams in Monday's 41-13 loss to the Giants. He was targeted three times and became the target of criticism after he failed to catch a pass."
