Knicks' Hill hard at work in Vegas

"Jordan Hill said he knew the Suns liked him and heard about them working on a draft-day deal last month with the idea of selecting him.

Hill ended up in the same system, anyway, as the New York Knicks took him with the No. 8 overall pick. The former University of Arizona standout still is catching his breath.

"I've got to stay in shape," Hill said after three NBA Summer League games this week in Las Vegas. "It's not easy, so you definitely have to be ready for it. It would take time for anybody to get ready for it if you're just coming in. I'm having fun. It'll just take time."

Hill is averaging 11.7 points a game but is shooting 38.5 percent. The 6-foot-10 power forward is grabbing 8.3 rebounds a game but has 18 fouls and just two blocks. But Hill improving his conditioning and shooting are not concerns for the Knicks, who said they had him second overall on their draft board.

"Those are two things he'll get done in a couple months, and hopefully he'll be ready to roll this year," said New York coach Mike D'Antoni, who left the Suns for the Knicks before last season. "There's no reason why he can't do it.""
