Knee injury knocks out 49ers receiver

"A 49ers offense missing big plays in the first two weeks of the season will have to go without its top big-play receiver for the near future.

Coach Jim Harbaugh revealed Wednesday that Braylon Edwards had a "little procedure" this week after injuring his right knee early in Sunday's loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Edwards started the game alongside Joshua Morgan, who has logged the most snaps of any 49ers wide receiver and who likely will carry a larger load over the next several weeks.

Edwards is believed to have a meniscus tear in his knee, which likely will keep him out about a month. The 49ers have their bye Oct. 23."
