The chase for the elusive Stanley Cup trophy was not going to slip through the hands of Kings winger Simon Gagne.

Come hell or high water the respected 12-year veteran was going to make it back on the ice in time to help the Kings pursue the biggest prize in hockey.

That he was with them Monday at Staples Center as they stepped on the necks of the New Jersey Devils in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final with a dominating 4-0 win certainly was inspirational. But hardly a surprise.
