"Other than suffering an embarrassing 93-71 lopsided loss to the Manu Ginobili-less San Antonio Spurs on Thursday night, the loss of Jason Kidd is of great concern to the Dallas Mavericks.

Kidd, who turns 39 in March, suffered a lower back injury in the first quarter and did not return to the game. He will be evaluated Friday, and the Mavs are hopeful he'll be able to return and play in Saturday night's home game against the New Orleans Hornets.

"It did happen on a play, and I didn't know which one,'' coach Rick Carlisle said. "But it definitely happened on a play.''"
