Kidd continues to come through for Mavericks

"Asked if he thought he would have scored 42 points in the first two games against Portland, Dallas guard Jason Kidd wasted little time thinking about it. The 38-year-old knew the answer within seconds.

"No," Kidd said with a smirk.

Nobody could have seen Kidd doing what he has done in the first two playoff games. He scored 18 points in helping the Mavs to a 101-89 victory over the Blazers on Tuesday night.

In Game 1, he finished with 24 points, including six 3-pointers.

More importantly, Kidd played 34:18 in Game 1, and 33:25 in Game 2. Those minutes should help Kidd stay fresh throughout the series. As Dirk Nowitzki joked, it seems like Kidd has been in the league for like 25 years.

"I've got to stick to my routine," Kidd said. "I think we're right on track with that minutes-wise, and I feel great. So we've got to stick to the game plan in regards to the routine."

Kidd had no turnovers on Tuesday, either, and dished out a team-high eight assists. He finished 7-of-11 from the field, and knocked down three 3s."
