"Kevin Youkilis has fouled pitches off his feet before, so he didn't expect to wake up this morning and feel "throbbing" in his left ankle.
As a result, he will undergo an MRI exam at noon today to make sure everything is OK.
"Hopefully it's just one day, get some treatment and get it going for tomorrow," Youkilis said. "We're hoping that it's probably nothing. Hopefully, there's no bone damage, just swelling."
Youkilis (Herald photo by Nancy Lane) fouled a pitch off the inside of his left foot in the fourth inning last night against Phillies starter Vance Worley. He remained in the game, finishing 0-for-3 with a walk. Youkilis said he felt soreness throughout the game, but it wasn't until afterward, after he had iced his ankle, that things got worse."
