"Both winners of the National League's top two post-season individual awards this year could – should? -- come from the same team.
And that team, the Los Angeles Dodgers, is struggling to finish .500.
Should it happen? And, if it does, what does that tell you about the Dodgers?
Even Dodger manager Don Mattingly is a bit taken aback by the possibility.
"We could go double Triple Cowns and barely be above .500," Mattingly said Sunday after Clayton Kershaw picked up his 21st win and center fielder Matt Kemp drove in the first run in the Dodgers 6-2 victory over the Padres at Petco Park.
Kershaw, 23, the seventh overall pick of the 2006 draft, is tied for the National League lead in wins and leads the lead in earned run average (2.28) and strikeouts (248) and is favored to win the National League Cy Young Award as the league's top pitcher.
Kemp, 27, a sixth-round pick in 2003, is tied for the National League lead in homers (37), leads in RBI (120) and ranks third in batting average (.324) in addition to being tied for second in steals (40)."
