Kerry Collins plans to be ready to play for Titans

"It's looking more likely that veteran quarterback Kerry Collins will return to the starting lineup on Sunday when the Titans host the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Collins hasn't played since straining a calf muscle on Nov. 14, but practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday — his first practice since the injury.

"I've come a long way since (the injury) happened," Collins said. "I'm feeling better. I'm feeling as good now as I have since it happened. I'm just trying to get my strength back and get better with every day that passes."

Titans Coach Jeff Fisher said Collins has improved since Sunday, when he was the back-up behind rookie Rusty Smith. Fisher added that his return gave the Titans some extra energy.

"It's already been a significant boost for them, knowing that he has a good chance to play," Fisher said. "Obviously we can do a little bit more, game-plan wise. Guys are excited."

Marks update: Titans defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks had a walking boot on his right foot Wednesday as he continues to recover from an ankle sprain suffered against the Texans.

Marks sounded off on Texans tackle Wade Smith after the game, accusing him of blocking him in the back of his legs Sunday. A year ago against the Texans, Marks said tackle Eric Winston hit him with a similar block.

"We know the way Houston plays because we play them a lot,'' Marks said. "If you are cracking guys on a lot of stuff and giving guys fines for a lot of things … clearly this guy was beaten and rolled at my ankle. I don't think that is a good technique at all; it is like you are intentionally trying to hit him. So it had me kind of (ticked) off.

"That is just the way they play and we know it.''

Marks said he's getting better, but his status for Sunday remains uncertain.

Britt practicing: Collins wasn't the only Titan to return to practice Wednesday after a significant injury layoff.

Wide receiver Kenny Britt, who hadn't played or practiced since suffering a hamstring injury on Oct. 31, was back to limited participation. It remains to be seen whether Britt will be ready to go this Sunday or if the Titans will hold him out an additional game."
