"Titans Coach Jeff Fisher didn't rule out Kerry Collins as the starting quarterback for Sunday's game against Jacksonville.

Collins has missed two games because of a strained calf muscle, but he was healthy enough to back up rookie Rusty Smith against the Texans.

"He pushed through some things well before the pregame warm-ups and felt good, felt like he could finish the game if need be," Fisher said Monday during his weekly press conference.

The 16th-year pro's status this week will be day-to-day. Fisher also said Smith will start again if Collins isn't ready. Fisher ruled out Chris Simms as the starter.

Smith went 17-for-31 with three interceptions and a quarterback rating of 26.7 against the Texans in his first NFL start.

"He took a little longer at the line of scrimmage to make some checks. He was very aware with what was going on. It was just a little unsettling with the noise, and that was one of the reasons for the false starts and the rhythm," Fisher said.

"But he made some good decisions. There were four drops or something like that. He had some good throws and he had some where he went to the wrong place. That's going to happen.""
