It wouldn’t be a road trip for the Bruins if there weren’t a couple of players left behind to let their injuries continue to heal.

So, both Chris Kelly and Dougie Hamilton didn’t get on the Wednesday afternoon Bruins charter headed for Dallas, and both players will miss the next two road games against the Stars and the much-anticipated first meeting against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday afternoon.

“Yup,” said Claude Julien when asked about the two players. “Kelly and Dougie are staying behind.”

Kelly has been out since Dec. 7 with a fractured right fibula, but began skating on his own last week while attempting to return from an injury that was originally expected to take a 4-6 week recovery. The rehab for Kelly’s injury has been perhaps a little slow-moving and frustrating, but Kelly is doing the best that he can to keep a positive mindset.
