Keith Bulluck calls out Tennessee Titans for no calls during free agency

"Titans Coach Jeff Fisher might be ready to move on, but Giants linebacker Keith Bulluck isn't ready to let go.

Their differing stories were on display again Wednesday, four days before Bulluck butts heads with his old Titans teammates for the first time.

This summer the Titans said publicly that they wanted Bulluck — the franchise's all-time leading tackler and a 10-year veteran — to return. They said the two sides exchanged contract numbers.

Bulluck remains adamant that the Titans made no overtures, a point he was all-too-eager to reiterate while speaking with Nashville media Wednesday.

"You know what, honestly that's (expletive),'' Bulluck said of the team's claims. "I was working there for 10 years. I have a house there still. Those people know my numbers. So if they were really trying to get in touch with me, trying to sign me and do all that stuff, I'm sure my phone would have rang, my agent's phone.''

Bulluck, who was a free agent, said he showed his interest in returning to the Titans on several occasions, including as he rehabbed from knee surgery for the torn ACL he suffered last season.

"I was laid up in the training room and I actually asked (Titans General Manager) Mike Reinfeldt what was up,'' Bulluck said. "The answer he gave me was somewhat of a joke."

Bulluck said his agent, Gary Wichard, tried to interest the Titans with footage of the linebacker in training, to show how he was responding from the surgery.

"I asked my agent several times if the Titans gave him a shout," he said, "and that didn't happen.''

Reinfeldt declined to comment Wednesday.

Said Fisher: "Talk to Keith about it. He has his own opinion. We have ours as far as what happened. He made the decision (to go elsewhere).''

Bulluck's case is similar to those of other veterans no longer with the Titans, including center Kevin Mawae and defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch. The Titans publicly said they were interested in retaining them, but both players said the team showed little attention.

"How about this? I haven't spoken to Kyle Vanden Bosch or Kevin Mawae since last year,'' Bulluck said. "Do you find it odd we're saying the same thing?''"
