With the cape and Clark Kent glasses safely tucked away, Patrick Kane has arrived in the nick of time to give the Blackhawks a lift wearing the familiar No. 88 on his back while munching on his trusty mouth guard.

Kane has elevated his game for a Hawks team that has lost its leader — and best player — with captain Jonathan Toews sidelined.

"I know I'm not blowing them out of the water with points or goals, but I'm playing probably my best hockey of the year as far as puck possession, making plays, creating chances and having the puck off the rush," said Kane, who donned a Superman costume to win the Breakaway Challenge at the NHL All-Star Game in January.
