The past two June 23rds, the Flyers have made three blockbuster moves that have reshaped the makeup of the roster and the playing style of the team.

Former captain Mike Richards was traded to Los Angeles last year and Jeff Carter was sent to Columbus (before being sent to LA). Both ended up winning the Stanley Cup for the Kings this past season, but Claude Giroux emerged as a fully capable replacement as the face of the franchise moving forward.

This past weekend, Flyers GM Paul Holmgren pulled off another high-profile trade of a young star. This time around, James van Riemsdyk was sent to Toronto for defenseman Luke Schenn.
