Julio Jones’s season has come to an end.

Jones the Falcons receiver who is leading the NFL in catches through five games will have surgery next week after Dr. Robert Anderson confirmed his fractured foot Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports. That means Jones is out for the year confirming the initial diagnosis of the Falcons’ medical staff.

The loss of Jones is devastating for the Falcons who are already one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL. At 1-4 the Falcons are already four games behind the Saints in the NFC South and losing their best offensive playmaker virtually guarantees that the Falcons won’t be able to catch up.

Jones suffered the injury in Monday night’s loss to the Jets but played through it even making a sensational one-handed catch for a 46-yard gain after he had already suffered the injury that would finish his 2013 season.

Now Jones will have surgery and focus on getting ready for 2014.
