Dennis Seidenberg took part in the Bruins' optional morning skate today at TD Garden, and continues to make steady progress toward a return. The veteran defenseman took a little bumping during 1-on-1 battles prior to Game 6 earlier this week in Montreal, and participated in some light contact today.

But Seidenberg has yet to skate in a single full practice, with full contact, and Claude Julien isn’t normally one of those coaches to push a player into duty before feeling he’s fully prepared.

So when asked if Seidenberg had any chance of playing on Wednesday night in the do-or-die Game 7 against the Habs, Julien gave a long pause before giving the answer everyone expected.

“Ah, I don’t think so,” said Julien. “I’d be very surprised.”

The question also becomes how much of an upgrade a rusty Seidenberg, who hasn’t played in four months, is over Matt Bartkowski or Dougie Hamilton in the thick of playoff battle.
