If Josh Johnson was auditioning for teams interested in acquiring him before Tuesday's trade deadline then the several scouts in attendance must've come away with mixed reviews.
Johnson, who reportedly is near the top of the Blue Jays, Red Sox and Rangers wish-lists, probably impressed the estimated 10-12 scouts more with his competitiveness and guile than control, velocity or stamina. He threw 95 pitches in five innings of a seesaw game that the newly designed small-ball Marlins battled from behind to win 5-4 in 10 innings over the Padres on Sunday afternoon.
