Jorge Cantu's streak reaches the end in Florida Marlins' loss

"One Marlins streak came to an end Friday night, and another remained intact.

Jorge Cantu's major league-record run of RBI to start a season was halted at 10 games. But the Marlins' run of losing the first game of a series remained alive and well.

Phillies ace Roy Halladay can claim responsibility for both -- albeit with a small assist from closer Ryan Madson. Making his home debut in front of 45,245 and the 46th consecutive sellout crowd at Citizens Bank Park, the 32-year-old right-hander tossed eight strong innings in the rain before Madson and the Phillies held on for an 8-6 win.

Acquired from Toronto in a multiteam trade in December, the six-time All-Star and Cy Young winner was efficient. Of his 100 pitches, 70 were strikes as he scattered eight hits, struck out four and gave up only two earned runs, which raised his ERA from 0.56 to 1.13.

But his third victory of the season -- the same number of wins Marlins starters have collectively as a staff -- almost got wiped off the board, thanks to yet another late Florida rally."
