The Nationals reached a one-year contract with right-handed starter Jordan Zimmermann, allowing them to avoid arbitration with all seven of their eligible players.
When the two sides exchanged figures last month, Zimmermann asked for $5.8 million and the Nationals offered $4.8 million. An arbitration hearing had been scheduled for Feb. 19, but both sides wanted to avoid what is often a contentious process.
