"Andruw Jones won 10 consecutive Gold Glove Awards for his superb defense in center field during his tenure with the Braves.
Jones needs only six more home runs to tie one of the greatest players in Braves history — Dale Murphy — and eight more to reach the 400 mark.
Still, Jones takes greater pride in his defense, a trait stemming from his first 10 seasons with the Braves when they went to the postseason.
"I'm just going to take advantage of the opportunities I get," said Jones, who has hit four home runs in his last seven games entering play Wednesday night. "Reaching milestones are good, but the main thing is going out and winning. I saw that coming from Atlanta. It was always about winning. It's not what you did personally at the end of the day. It's just getting to the playoffs and the World Series."
Jones said he recognizes that Murphy meant a lot to the Braves, but that the organization placed a greater premium on Jones' defense while he played there from 1996 to 2007."
