The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to matching eight-year contract extensions with star forwards Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane.

The team didn't release financial details, but multiple reports said each player will earn $84 million US.

The new deals go into effect for the 2015-16 NHL season and tie the star forwards to the Blackhawks through 2022-23.

Chicago selected Toews, their captain, with the No. 3 pick in the 2006 draft, and grabbed Kane with the No. 1 overall selection the following year. They combined to lead the Blackhawks to Stanley Cup titles in 2010 and 2013.
