"Since 2008, the Carolina Panthers have employed DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart as their running back tandem. It's generally been in that order, too - Williams and Stewart. Williams is the faster one, the flashier one and the one more comfortable with a microphone in front of him.

But right now, Stewart is the better one. And while the two have long split their time on the field in a 50-50 sort of way, it's time that Stewart got about 70 percent of the touches. In their "Double Trouble" dynamic, Stewart has become the running back who gives opponents more trouble more often.

I'm not advocating that the Panthers switch entirely to Stewart and make Williams an afterthought. Far from it. Given the beating NFL running backs take, the Panthers absolutely need both."
