Jonas Hiller, Anaheim Ducks humble Phoenix Coyotes

"So much for any welcome-home party the Coyotes thought about holding Tuesday night in front of 14,032 fans.

That idea disappeared faster than the $1 beers they were selling at Jobing.com Arena.

Playing on home ice for the first time in more than two weeks, the Coyotes got humbled in their own house 3-1 by the Anaheim Ducks in the first of back-to-back games against Pacific Division rivals.

Next up are the Kings tonight, and the Coyotes only can hope they start scoring some goals and that goalie Ilya Bryzgalov has better luck.

Anaheim slipped three goals by him in the first period and then tightened up defensively to send the Coyotes to their third defeat in four games. Phoenix has been held to just one goal in each of those four games.

Coyotes coach Dave Tippett was not pleased, especially with his team's lack of goal production.

"Look at the last 10 games," he said, "and we have players that have been non-existent. Just non-existent. . . .

"We got guys who are really trying, but our execution and our production is not good enough."

Jonas Hiller made 31 saves for the Ducks. He was especially tough when it mattered most, as the Coyotes failed to connect on a two-man advantage and another power play in the third period."
