The New York Giants are hoping linebacker Jon Beason will be back on the field when the games begin to count in September.

New York Giants linebacker Jon Beason broke his foot during OTAs but will not need surgery to repair it, according to Dan Graziano of ESPN.

Beason will opt to have the foot immobilized for six weeks before undergoing rehab. Should everything go to plan, Beason will be able to start rehab at the beginning of August. If Beason's foot responds well, it is possible he can see action in Week 1 against the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football, per Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News.
