"Chris Johnson admitted he's a big fan of Cam Newton, and said the Auburn quarterback would be a great draft pick for the Titans.

More than anything, however, the running back would like to see his team keep the player Newton is often compared to — Vince Young.

There's a chance it could happen, according to Johnson.

"It is not etched in stone that Vince is going to be gone, so I am not sure what they are going to do at quarterback. A lot of things have changed in the last few months, so maybe Vince will be back?" he said Thursday.

"At first it was set in stone when Coach (Jeff) Fisher was here because he didn't want Vince back. It was an either-or situation then. Now that Coach Fisher is gone, everything is up in the air. We'll just see what happens."

Johnson, who spoke with The Tennessean after an appearance at Walmart to sign autographs and pitch Powerade, said no one with the Titans has told him there's a chance Young is coming back.

Asked if his viewpoint might be a case of wishful thinking, Johnson said: "I don't think so."

Titans officials declined comment on Thursday. Young's status has remained a storyline since November, when his locker-room outburst widened the rift between the quarterback and Fisher.

In January the Titans announced plans to part ways with Young after five roller-coaster seasons. A few days later the team announced Fisher would return for his 17th season. Then the coach and team parted ways a few weeks later."
