Former Mets closer John Franco recently saw Matt Harvey and has faith the he will rebound in 2018.

"He looks in great shape," Franco said. "I think he's got his head on straight now. This is a big year for him."

I think this year, you'll see the old Matt Harvey. His work ethic is unbelievable."

The 28-year-old Harvey, who is eligible for free agency after next season, had a 6.70 ERA and 1.69 WHIP with just 67 strikeouts in 97 2/3 innings this past season as he returned from surgery. He also dealt with an injury to his scapula that kept him out of action from June 15 to Sept. 2.

Harvey was the subject of trade rumors last month, but GM Sandy Alderson later suggested the team would keep him heading into next season.

Like Franco, SNY's Ron Darling expects Harvey to be much-improved in 2018, in his second season after undergoing Thoracic Outlet surgery.
