"Johan Santana's second rehab start for Class A St. Lucie has been pushed back from Wednesday to Thursday, but GM Sandy Alderson called the change "a tweak in the schedule, not a setback."

Alderson said Santana, out since September following shoulder surgery, was not as strong as he had hoped when he threw a side session Monday.

"He didn't feel quite as strong as he would have liked. It's not a pain issue at this point," Alderson said.

Prized right-hander Zack Wheeler, whom the Mets received from the Giants in the deal for Carlos Beltran, made his debut for St. Lucie on Monday night and did not do particularly well against the Dunedin Blue Jays. The 21-year-old gave up three runs on four hits in the first inning. He lasted four innings and gave up four runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and no walks. Alderson said he did not consider traveling to Florida to watch Wheeler."
