"New York Yankees doctors are examining an MRI of reliever Joba Chamberlain's oblique on his left side to determine if the injury he sustained last week is more severe than originally thought.
The Yankees had said that the right-hander is day to day.
"He's been asymptomatic," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. At the moment, Chamberlain isn't pitching as the Yankees determine if it is anything more serious than a slight strain. Girardi noted that oblique injuries can be very tricky, especially for pitchers. They can mushroom from seemingly nothing to weeks or month-long injuries."
