"After missing 10 days with a left oblique strain, Joba Chamberlain felt good in his one-inning return to game action. "I've probably never felt this ready [to start a season]," Chamberlain said after hitting 95 mph with his fastball against the Orioles. He felt he had his best delivery all spring.
Chamberlain faced four batters, giving up a home run to J.J. Hardy. He struck out two. Chamberlain wasn't worried going in, but Joe Girardi took a wait-and-see approach. "The fact that he was able to throw 95 makes me feel pretty good," said the manager."
