"Ubaldo Jimenez doesn't have any say in the matter. If he did, he would tell Rockies general manager Dan O'Dowd not to listen when other clubs call to inquire about him.
Jimenez, responding to questions about trade rumors with his name attached, said Sunday he would like to spend his entire career with the Rockies.
"As a player, you always want to be on the same team for your whole career," Jimenez said. "I'd like to finish my career here, but that's something you can't control. Baseball is a really good game, but there's a business side."
Jimenez, 27, has attracted attention from a handful of clubs, with the Reds, Yankees, Tigers and Rangers among those showing interest. He understands it but doesn't want to go anywhere after spending 11 years in the Rockies' organization.
Jimenez, signed as a 17-year-old free agent out of the Dominican Republic, is second to Aaron Cook in tenure among Rockies pitchers. It's a source of great pride for him to have found success in Colorado, a graveyard for many pitchers through the years."
