"Making a change he never did for a regular-season American League game, Tigers manager Jim Leyland on Saturday moved Miguel Cabrera from cleanup to the No. 3 spot to replace injured Delmon Young.

Victor Martinez moved from fifth to cleanup, and Magglio Ordoñez from sixth to fifth. Leyland said he didn't move Ordoñez back into the No. 3 spot because he liked to have him protect Martinez.

Leyland said he "thought all night long" on Friday about how to revamp the lineup without Young.

"I made up two or three different lineups," he said. "(I thought) this is one time I might have to slip Cabrera in the three-hole.""
