Zach Redmond's lightning quick recovery from a sliced femoral artery will reach its conclusion this weekend.

The Winnipeg Jets this afternoon assigned the rookie defenceman to the AHL's St. John's IceCaps for a conditioning stint, and the plan is for him to play two of the team's last three regular-season games.

Redmond suffered a severed femoral artery and cut nerves in his right thigh when teammate Antti Miettinen accidentally stepped on him during the morning skate in Raleigh, N.C., on Feb. 21.

Redmond, who could have died if not for the quick actions of his teammates and the Jets training staff, lost a lot of blood and underwent emergency surgery that afternoon. He spent a week in hospital before returning to his family home in Michigan.
