When the public gets a first look at the Jaguars later this offseason, observant fans might be surprised to see defensive end Ryan Davis working at a new position with a different set of responsibilities.

Even Davis was initially shocked when new defensive coordinator Todd Wash met with him to explain his role would include coverage duties.

In the Jaguars’ vernacular, Davis is now a “Lotto” — part “Leo” (weak-side defensive end) and part “Otto” (strong-side linebacker).
