The Jets applied a second-round tender to restricted free agent right tackle Austin Howard, according to a source.

The Jets can match any other team’s offer to Howard or receive a second-round pick if he signs with someone else. If he remains with the Jets it will be a one-year, $2 million deal.

Howard started all 16 games at right tackle last season after taking the starting job from incumbent Wayne Hunter during training camp. Howard barely came off the field all season and proved a capable starter.
