Jerry Jones is pumped about the season kicking off with a primetime encounter with the hated New York Giants at AT&T Stadium.

So much so he’s having trouble sleeping.

“Popped up at 4:30 this morning” Jones said Tuesday on his radio show on Dallas’ KRLD-FM. “It’s just an exciting time to think we’ve got the team on the field we do. This is a big game we open it up nationally (on Sunday Night Football) at AT&T Stadium.
“(It’s) almost more than I can handle.”

Perhaps a healthy dose of fear is also preventing Jones from sleeping peacefully. The Cowboys haven’t been to the playoffs since 2009 an embarrassing stretch for a once proud franchise that owns five Super Bowl titles but none since the one played after the 1995 season.

Making matters worse the Cowboys finished 8-8 the last two seasons after losing playoffs-or-bust season finales to division foes with the NFC East crown on the line.

“Boy do I feel pressure because of the fact we haven’t met expectations” Jones admitted.
