"Former Jets wideout Jerricho Cotchery has a new home.
Cotchery, who asked to be released from the Jets last week, agreed to terms on a contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers . He had played his first seven seasons with Gang Green.
Last season, Cotchery caught 41 passes in 14 games, his lowest reception total since he became a starter in 2006.
He became dispensable following the free-agent frenzy. The Jets signed Santonio Holmes to a five-year, $50 million deal once the lockout was lifted, then added wideout Plaxico Burress for $3 million guaranteed.
Cotchery, who underwent back surgery for a disk injury in the offseason, wanted a better role than being a third option at best.
Cotchery adds needed depth to the Steelers' corps. Hines Ward and Mike Wallace headline the group that helped Pittsburgh reach the Super Bowl last season after defeating the Jets in the AFC Championship Game ."
