"Brandon Jennings tripled his pleasure in the Milwaukee Bucks' home opener Saturday night, but he was happiest about the team's first victory.
Jennings posted the first triple-double of his NBA career with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in the Bucks' 98-88 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats before a crowd of 16,519 at the Bradley Center.
And it was a better-flowing game for the Bucks as they bounced back from a stumbling effort in Minnesota on Friday night.
Carlos Delfino set the tone by hitting some three-point shots early and finished with 23 points to pace the Bucks (1-2). A more aggressive Andrew Bogut contributed 14 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots in his first regular-season game on the Bradley Center floor since being injured last season.
And Luc Richard Mbah a Moute came off the bench and had nine points and nine rebounds in 35 minutes as he shook off the effects of a right ankle injury.
"The first thing is I'm happy we finally got a win," Jennings said while a crowd of reporters gathered around his locker. "It seemed like everything was clicking tonight. The offense was running smooth, and everybody was being unselfish."
Bucks coach Scott Skiles said he talked to Jennings before the game about staying on balance with his jump shot, after the 21-year-old struggled to a 4-of-15 shooting performance against the Timberwolves.
Against Charlotte, the point guard sank 6 of 8 shots, including all 3 three-pointers he attempted.
"He was really, really good offensively," Skiles said. "He stepped into his shots and was on balance. He made good decisions with the ball, for the most part. He controlled the team.
"He's a very good point guard defensive rebounder anyway. It's unusual to get 10, of course. We got 29 points and 19 rebounds out of (Jennings) and Mbah a Moute. Those were all big."
Jennings knew where to go to complete the triple-double when he returned to the game in the fourth quarter after a brief time on the bench.
He found Delfino in the corner, and his teammate obliged by knocking down a three-pointer, giving Jennings his 10th assist and pushing the Bucks' lead to 88-76 with 4:25 remaining."
