"The former Jets game-day host involved in the Brett Favre sexting scandal broke her silence, sharing her side of the story in the first of a two-part interview on ABC's "Good Morning America" this morning.
Jenn Sterger, who worked for the team in 2008, was identified in a Deadspin.com report last fall as the target of advances and sexually explicit text messages from the star quarterback during his lone season with the Jets. Sterger told GMA's George Stephanopoulos that she finally decided to speak publicly "for me, for my family."
In the interview, Sterger said she and Favre have never met.
"There's a perception of you that people automatically start to think, 'She's a gold-digger; she's a homewrecker,' " Sterger said. "I'm none of those things. I've never met the man."
According to Sterger, a man wearing a Jets "employee badge" approached her at the start of the preseason and asked her how she would feel if Favre asked for her phone number. She said she did not give it to the employee, but "somehow" Favre got her number anyway.
Sterger said she did respond to some of the voicemails and texts he sent in order to determine who was sending them, because Favre never identified himself by name. She also said she did not recall the content of the text messages she sent back, but maintained she did not encourage his advances."
