Mired in a seven-game losing streak, Dallas Cowboys executive president of football operations Stephen Jones threw some unnecessary shade at Brandon Weeden.

Incumbent starter Tony Romo suffered a broken collarbone in Week 2, and Weeden failed to record a victory in three starts. Weeden was released by the club on Nov. 17 ahead of Romo's expected return on Sunday.

"After giving him the opportunities we did, we just didn't see a future for Brandon Weeden in Dallas," Jones said on SiriusXM NFL Radio.
