Every once in a while, I come across a stat that truly blows by mind. This is one of those stats:

Jedd Gyorko, who made his MLB debut last season and has 31 homers in 199 career games, is now the Padres franchise leader in home runs by a second baseman. The Padres have been around since 1969. You know that, right?

I didn't believe this when I read it at first -- maybe an intern just misread the stat sheet before tweeting? -- so I double-checked it with the Baseball-Reference.com Play Index.

Unbelievable. There have only been 10 players in the 45-year history of the Padres to hit double-digit home runs as a second baseman. (Logan Forsythe and Orlando Hudson are tied for 11th with eight homers apiece.)
