"New York Yankees catcher Russell Martin said the Blue Jays are dirty, thievin' rats.

Martin claims the Jays were stealing signs from second base in Thursday's 16-7 drubbing of New York

"You move your head one way it's a fastball, you move your head the other way it's a slider," Martin told reporters. "It's just an easier game when you know what's coming,"

Not that Martin, in the fine tradition of baseball, might not have tried the same thing. Stealing signs is the game's dark science. Everybody tries to do it, few admit they do it, and fewer become experts at doing it.

"I'm unaware of us stealing signs, or relaying location from second base," said Jays manager John Farrell. But, then, he's getting paid to say that.

Actually, Martin seemed less annoyed with the Jays, and more at himself for not noticing until the fourth inning.

"It's up to us to catch it and change the signs," Martin said. "I'm not blaming them for anything.""
