"Jason Kidd's back injury, which will keep him out a minimum of three games, comes as no surprise to the Mavericks, owner Mark Cuban said before Saturday night's meeting with the New Orleans Hornets.
Kidd injured his back Thursday at San Antonio and while he is expected to go on the road trip to visit the White House and President Obama on Monday, he will not play at Detroit or Boston.
"You've got to expect it,'' Cuban said. "That's one of the reasons we built our roster the way we built it. It's no surprise when Jason Kidd goes down. Training camps are there for a reason. You are seeing a lot of injuries around the league. Who knows if they're directly related or not? But you deal with whatever comes along."
