"Antawn Jamison's left knee injury forced him to miss his first reunion game against the Washington Wizards. It just might keep him out of the second, too.
Jamison was held out of the game Friday against the 76ers in Philadelphia because of swelling in his left knee. He remains a game-time decision for tonight in Washington, where he spent 51/2 years before getting traded to the Cavaliers in February.
''The knee has gotten better, but he still has a little soreness in there,'' Cavs coach Byron Scott said. ''If it was April, the last five games of the season, and you were trying to get a different seeding for the playoffs, he could play. But right now it's still a little sore, the flexibility is not all the way there. So obviously we want to be a little more cautious with it.''
Scott didn't sound overly hopeful about Jamison's availability tonight. In a worst-case scenario, Jamison is expected to return Tuesday against the New Jersey Nets.
Jamison missed a preseason game against the Wizards with a knee ailment.
Old acquaintances
Scott enjoyed a reunion Friday with Sixers coach Doug Collins, who was an assistant on staff during Scott's sophomore season at Arizona State. Scott credits Collins with teaching him how a professional is supposed to carry himself, since even as a sophomore Scott seemed destined for the NBA.
''He taught me a helluva lot,'' Scott said. ''He's been one of the great people in my life. Just a lot of love for that man because he's been very special to me.''
Collins missed the preseason game against the Cavs because of post-concussion symptoms. He was diagnosed with vertigo, which forced him to miss the second half of the Sixers' win over the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday. But he was back on the bench Friday.
''I feel really, really good,'' Collins said. ''I haven't felt this good in a long time.''
Scott called Collins one of his coaching mentors, even if he can't follow his own advice.
''Doug is a real fiery guy. When I was at Arizona State, he showed that part as well - real fiery, lot of energy,'' Scott said. ''He was telling me, 'When you get into coaching, just keep your cool, don't get so emotional.' All the stuff that he does.''"
