"Jamie Benn is the Stars' leading scorer and quite possibly the player this team builds around going forward, but Stars coach Joe Nieuwenedyk said that a contract extension for Benn will probably have to wait until the summer, and maybe even until there is a new collective bargaining agreement.
"We've had discussions, but there won't be any more discussion, I don't thnk,'' Nieuwendyk said, ``His is a different situation because he's still entry level and doesn't have rights that maybe Alex has. We'll have further discussions with him at the end of the season."
The big difference between Goligoski and Benn is Goligoski is 26 and could have become an unrestricted at 27 under the current CBA. Benn is 22, and still doesn't have arbitration rights. The Stars' biggest concern on Benn is that another team could make an offer sheet to him on July 1."
