The gauntlet is over.

Whether the Miami Heat survived is open to interpretation.

Saturday's 103-98 victory over the Denver Nuggets at AmericanAirlines Arena was the final test of an 11-game run against teams with winning records.

The Heat ended their own version of March Madness at 5-6.

And they did not end whole, with starting point guard Mario Chalmers lost in the first quarter with a sprained right knee that could have him out for an extended period.

Like so many games in the 11-game run, the Heat pushed to a big early lead, this time up 10-0 at the outset and then 25-9 less than nine minutes in.

But like so many games in the 11-game challenge, especially at the start of the stretch, the Heat squandered the extended advantage, this time with the Nuggets closing within four early in the fourth quarter.
