"One of the reasons that Chris Duhon was attractive to the Magic as a free agent this summer was his ability to start or come off the bench.

Duhon received his first regular-season start for Orlando on Saturday night, replacing injured starting point guard Jameer Nelson. Jason Williams, who has been the third point guard, served as Duhon's backup.

Duhon largely was a sub in his four seasons with the Chicago Bulls before becoming a full-time starter the last two years with the New York Knicks.

Nelson was unable to play against the Bobcats after spraining his left ankle Friday night in Orlando against the New Jersey Nets.

Coach Stan Van Gundy said he was "hopeful" that Nelson could return Monday night when the Magic face the Atlanta Hawks at Amway Center.

Van Gundy said that Nelson was too sore to even attempt to make a go of it.

"It was pretty clear he wasn't going," Van Gundy said."
